CJM Torque Plates - EJ25

A torque plate should always be used when boring or honing an engine block. When the cylinder head is torqued down, the clamping force from the bolts or studs distorts the bores. If the machining is done without simulating this load, the cylinders won’t remain round once the head is installed.

A torque plate replicates this distortion. Bolting it to the block applies the same stresses the head creates, allowing the bores to settle into their true operating shape. The cylinders can then be bored and honed perfectly round and accurately aligned under real-world conditions.
